The Gambian president Yahya Jammeh has dismissed the Inspector General of police, Ensa Badjie.

According to a senior police officer who spoke to Senegambia News on condition that his identity not be revealed, Ensa Badjie received presidential orders to vacat his post on Tuesday afternoon.

The police officer also confirmed the dismissal of the commander of the Gambia Navy, Lt. Gen Sarjo Fofana.

No reasons have been made available for the removal of the top security officials, our police source added.

Meanwhile, the deputy Inspector General of police, Yankuba Sonko who was also the Crime Management Co-ordinator, has been appointed as the new IGP.
