NIA operatives are reported to have arrested a manager at president Yahya Jammeh's farm in Sifoe village, Kombo South.

The manager, Karapha Sanneh, was in arrested in Brikama on June 25 while driving with Paul Mendy, National Assembly Member for Kombo South district.

Police have now charged Sanneh with three criminal counts on July 2. On count one, Sanneh was alleged to have given false information to villagers of Sanyang about 100 bags of donated sugar. On count two, he was alleged to have given false documents to public servants, and count three states he was operating a sand mining company without a licence.

According to our correspondent, Sanneh was remanded in custody after police allegedly found D2. 9 million in his possession.

Defence lawyer Lamin Jorbateh represented Karapha Sanneh while the prosecution was led by ASP Yahya Touray .

Mr Karapha Sanneh is a native of Nyofelleh village. He was well known for his dubious acts for the APRC party in the kombos. He was a very close associate of president Yahya Jammeh, the National Assembly Member Paul Mendy and the area Chief, Sheriff Ajay Janneh.

But our correspondent says Sanneh was put in charge of sand mining operations in the area by president Jammeh himself.
