Gambia defeats defending champs Liberia 4-1 in Sunday's final
The Scorpions of The Gambia (Minnesota team) played the defending Champions, Liberia's Lone Stars in the second annual Minnesota African Soccer Tournament hosted by African Vision 360, Africanvision360.org.
Other countries that participated in this year's tourney are: Liberia (2008 Champions), The Gambia (2008 Runners-up), Guinea, Sierra Leone, Eritrea, and Ghana. Under the capable leadership of Coach Sulayman (Sol) Njie, assistant coach Abdoulie Bojang and Team Captain Ebrima (Saul) Janneh, The Gambia defeated Liberia by 4 goals to 1 (4-1). The Gambia scored Liberia 3-1 by the end of the first half.
Best sportsmanship went to The Black Stars of Ghana, whilst Gambia's Lamin B Sambou (BIGA), who scored two goals in the final lifted the trophey for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
